From the Archives – ‘Perfect’ by Sinéad Farrell

I have to be perfect.
I have to be okay,
Because that’s what I am.
Perfect.
Hide the cracks, hide the scars
Fractures are for the weak.
And I am strong.
Cover it up,
Keep it inside,
It can’t possibly be real.
Because I am perfect.
And perfect people don’t cry.
I’m happy.
I’m fine.
I can’t complain.
I’m great,
I’m perfect.
Amn’t I?
