Meet Meg. New to country life, things are a lot different from London with its crowded streets and the bashed car windows. Supposed to be a safe haven for Meg, her new home seems to be a new kind of safe but is maybe not safe at all. Soon, Meg’s life is transformed from a life of a normal teen to a life of mystery, legacies, ancient battles and betrayals.
Ghostlord is a gripping, fast-action tale of mystery and supernatural twists. I loved the suspense and the build up of an ancient battle against an ancient foe. Main character Meg is a likeable figure and you will be rooting for her right through. Hidden betrayals make the storyline ever-hooking, and this is a book that won’t be forgotten quickly.
Even though this book is the sequel to the acclaimed fantasy Wildlord, it is a good standalone and relatively easy to follow. The text really reels you into the storyline and doesn’t let you go. The writing is so descriptive, and it was easy to imagine yourself there, in those surroundings. I also relished the strong words used to describe the supernatural “Samdhya” in their creature bodies and it was so in tune to what I imagined all along. I loved reading this book and it really interested me into where it all began in Wildlord.
This is the ticket for anyone who longs for a strong storyline and fantasy in the real world. Even if this is not your usual read on your bookshelf, you might be surprised…
